Namco Bandai announced the new game in the Tales series, titled Tales of Zestiria for the PlayStation 3. The game will arrive in Japan and will be released in celebration of the series' 20th anniversary.
The “Zest” in the name represents passion and enthusiasm, according to producer Hideo Baba. A dragon is used in the logo as a symbol of the game's story.
Character design is in the hands of Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura and Minoru Iwamoto. The animation is being done by the famous studio Ufotable (fate/zero).
Two characters have been revealed so far:
Slay (voiced by Ryouhei Kimura): design by Koskuke Fujishima. Quotes: “I want to explore ruins all over the world.” “It is clear that the mural of the monk hoists the sacred sword”;
Alicia (voiced by Ai Kayano): design by Daigo Okumura. Quotes: “I want to try, to see my hometown free from impurities.” “Aren’t you… going to ask my name?”
The game takes place on the continent of Glynnwood. In it, two powerful nations, Highland Kingdom and Laurence Empire, fight for supremacy. Each country has different beliefs and cultures, in addition to having achieved great advances in civilization. However, there is one strange factor in common: faith in the mysterious existence known as the “Family of Heaven”. She is invisible and untouchable, but is said to possess supernatural powers to influence the world. People respect, fear, avoid and glorify this “Family of Heaven”.
