After Kimi no na Wa (Your Name), Makoto Shinkai hasn't rested for a minute with his absurd and detailed animation projects. After several rumors, CoMix Wave Films announced that the director's next animated film has a name. Titled Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You), the new film is scheduled for release on July 19, 2019. Check out the Official Website
The story of Tenki no Ko explores the secrets of the world, following student Hodaka who leaves his island home to live in Tokyo. Living in isolation and seeking work as a writer, Hodaka soon meets Hina and her younger brother, where they live together. Hina, on the other hand, has a certain power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

The direction is by Makoto Shinkai (your name.) as well as the character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., anohana, The Anthem of the Heart), the animation director is Atsushi Tamura (The Cat Returns, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin) and the art director is Hiroshi Takiguchi (The Garden of Words, Ajin). The production company is STORY inc. and TOHO will distribute the film in theaters.
The new anime Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You) will be released worldwide.
