After Kimi no na Wa (Your Name) Makoto Shinkai didn't rest for a minute with his absurd and detailed animation projects. After several rumors, CoMix Wave Films announced that the director's next animated film has a name, titled Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You), the new film is scheduled for release on July 19, 2019. The story of Tenki no Ko addresses the secret of the world following student Hodaka who leaves his home on an island to live in Tokyo. Without conditions, living isolated and looking for a job as a writer, soon after the young Hodaka meets Hina and her younger brother, where they in turn live together. Hina on the other hand has a certain power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

The direction is by Makoto Shinkai (your name.) as well as the character design by Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., anohana, The Anthem of the Heart), the animation director is Atsushi Tamura (The Cat Returns, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin) and the art director is Hiroshi Takiguchi (The Garden of Words, Ajin). The producer is STORY inc. in the same way that TOHO will distribute the film in theaters.
The new anime Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You) will be released worldwide.
