After Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name), Makoto Shinkai didn't rest for a minute with his absurd and meticulously detailed animation projects. Following several rumors, CoMix Wave Films announced that the director's next animated film has a name: Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You). The new feature film is scheduled to premiere on July 19, 2019. Check out the Official Website.
The story of Tenki no Ko ( Weathering With You) explores the world's secrets, following the student Hodaka who leaves his home on an island to live in Tokyo. Living in isolation and struggling to find work as a writer, Hodaka soon meets Hina and her younger brother, with whom he lives. Hina, however, possesses a certain power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

The film is directed by Makoto Shinkai (your name.) and features character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., anohana, The Anthem of the Heart), animation direction by Atsushi Tamura (The Cat Returns, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin), and art direction by Hiroshi Takiguchi (The Garden of Words, Ajin). STORY Inc. is the production company, and TOHO will distribute the film in theaters.
