Warner Bros. has released the first promotional video for the Terra Formars TV series, an adaptation based on the work of authors Yū Sasuga and Kenichi Tachibana. The series will adapt the first arc of the manga on September 26th. The OVAs currently being released adapt the second arc, volumes 10 and 11 of the manga, where the first arc takes place 20 years later.
Hiroshi Hamasaki (Steins;Gate) is directing the TV anime at studio Liden. Shogo Yasukawa (Hyperdimension Neptunia) is handling the series composition, and Masanori Shino (Black Lagoon) is handling the main character designs.
The story of the original manga begins in the year 2577, hundreds of years after scientists sent cockroaches and mold to transform Mars. However, when the first manned ships land on Mars, they encounter large humanoid cockroaches with great strength, and are eliminated. Humanity then sends elite warriors to Mars to eliminate the cockroaches.
