Warner Bros. has released the first promotional video for the TV series Terra Formars, an adaptation based on the work of authors Yū Sasuga and Kenichi Tachibana. The series will adapt the first arc of the manga on September 26th. The OVAs that are being released adapt the second arc of the 10th and 11th volumes of the manga, where the first arc takes place 20 years later.
Hiroshi Hamasaki (Steins; Gate) is directing the TV anime at Liden Studio. Shogo Yasukawa (Hyperdimension Neptunia) is handling the series composition, and Masanori Shino (Black Lagoon) is handling the main character designs.
The original manga begins in the year 2577, hundreds of years after scientists sent cockroaches and mold to transform Mars. However, when the first manned ships landed on Mars, they encountered large humanoid cockroaches with immense strength, and were eliminated. Humanity then sent elite warriors to Mars to eliminate the cockroaches.
