The year 2024 is drawing to a close and, as usual, Google has released its annual "Year in Search" list, revealing the most searched anime of the year. And to the delight of animation fans, the anime category stood out in Japan!

According to Google, the most searched anime in 2024 was Mashle: Magic and Muscles . This title, which follows the story of a boy without magic in a magical world, topped the list.

In a world where magic is everything, Mash Burnedead is a muscular boy who possesses no magical powers. Despite this, he decides to enroll in a magic school and, with his superhuman strength, faces challenges and breaks stereotypes.

It's worth highlighting the presence of classics like Demon Slayer and Dragon Ball Daima, showing that certain anime continue to win over new fans. Furthermore, the anime HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle ranked fourth among the most searched films in Japan, proving the series' popularity.
Mashle: a global phenomenon
However, Mashle's success wasn't limited to Japan. The anime's opening theme, "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" by the band Creepy Nuts, was the second most searched song worldwide using Google's music recognition feature (humming search)!
And there's more! The death of the legendary Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama, placed the mangaka in third place among the most searched public figures of the year. The creator of Mashle, however, was not left behind: the series boosted his sales, which increased tenfold compared to the average before the anime's second season.
