The year 2024 is coming to an end and, as usual, Google released its annual “Year in Search” list, revealing the most searched anime of the year. And to the delight of animation fans, the anime category gained prominence in Japan!

According to Google, the most searched anime in 2024 was Mashle: Magic and Muscles . This title, which follows the story of a boy who has no magic in a magical world, reached the top of the list.

It is worth highlighting the presence of classics such as Demon Slayer and Dragon Ball Daima, showing that certain animes continue to win new fans. Furthermore, the animation HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle ranked fourth among the most searched films in Japan, proving the series' popularity.
Mashle: a global phenomenon
However, Mashle's success was not limited to Japan. The anime's opening song, “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by the band Creepy Nuts, was the second most searched song using Google's music recognition feature (humming search) worldwide!
And there's more! The death of the legendary creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, placed the mangaka in third place among the most searched public figures of the year. The creator of Mashle, however, was not left behind: the series boosted its sales, which rose 10 times compared to the average prior to the second season of the anime.
