SEGA announced today that Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle , the new anime based on the game Phantasy Star Online 2, will premiere on TV in October 2019 and will consist of 25 episodes. The anime will recap the story from Episodes 1-3 of the game and also include an original story.

With animation by Studio Gonzo, the series is directed by Masaki Tachibana (Princess Principal, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0), the story is by Hiroshi Ohnogi (GeGeGe no Kitarō, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), the character design is by Shinpei Koikawa (Aquarion Logos, High School DxD Hero), and the sound direction is by Eriko Kimura (Tiger & Bunny, Lu over the wall, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt). The 3D CG for the anime series was handled by Felix Film.
The game previously inspired an anime titled Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation. The anime features a completely original story. The 12-episode series premiered in January 2016, and Sentai Filmworks and Crunchyroll streamed the series in Japan.
More recently, the official Puso Ni Comi: Phantasy Star Online 2 comic web manga inspired a series of web anime shorts that began streaming weekly on the Phantasy Star YouTube and Niconico channels on January 8.
Sega released the free-to-play RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 for Windows PC in Japan in 2012, followed by a PlayStation Vita release in 2013, and an Android and iOS release in April and May 2014, respectively. The game debuted on PlayStation 4 in April 2016. The game's most recent episode, "Episode 6," was released on April 24.
A cloud-based version of the game for Nintendo Switch titled Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud was released in April 2018, and later released for PC on December 19.
Microsoft announced at E3 in June that it will release the game on Xbox One in North America in the spring of 2020.
