Netflix has revealed character designs and a 2021 release date for Yasuke .
Synopsis
In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechas and magic, the greatest ronin ever known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a life of violence. Yasuke, a wanderer who once retired from battle, takes up his sword again to protect a mysterious boy whose life is targeted by an evil power. It is a period fantasy drama that portrays an African samurai who, in real history, served Oda Nobunaga.
Furthermore, the protagonist's story is based on the historical figure Yasuke, a samurai of African origin who served Oda Nobunaga during the Warring States period of Japan in the 16th century.
Finally, LeSean Thomas is credited as creator, director, and executive producer on Yasuke. Flying Lotus is the soundtrack composer and executive producer. Lakeith will voice Yasuke. Studio MAPPA ( Kakegurui ) will produce the animation.
