Mantan Web has announced that the hit manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) will have 2.2 million copies of its 12th volume on sale, a number that has already surpassed the 2 million mark in circulation.
To give you a better idea of how quickly the manga gained popularity, this number is 55 times greater than that of the first volume, which was released in March 2010 with only 40,000 copies. Sales of the manga volumes in Japan have already surpassed 28 million.
Finally, an interesting fact: the other Japanese manga that had a first printing of a volume exceeding 2 million was One Piece by Eiichiro Oda. The 71st volume of One Piece, released in August 2013, had 4 million copies in its first printing.
