Episode 3 of The Beginning After the End , released on April 16, shows that, despite the animation, the anime still has a lot to tell about Arthur and the King he was in his past life.

In the previous episode, during the battle against the bandits, Arthur fell off a cliff. As a result, in this episode, he wakes up in a cave and meets Sylvia, a mysterious beast dressed in armor. The boy spends days living with the creature and becomes attached to it.
Although initially fearsome, Sylvia soon proves to be kind and gentle. Furthermore, she is a powerful being, capable of simultaneously using magic and collecting mana, making her a creature with an inexhaustible source of power, as, according to Arthur, such an act is "like refueling an aircraft mid-flight while piloting it."
Beyond magic, Sylvia also wants to show the boy that revenge and hatred shouldn't remain in his heart. Thus, the creature says she will only teach him more about her powers when Arthur understands he must use them to protect those he loves.
The Beginning After The End exposes the contrast between Grey's past life and who Arthur is becoming.
The book has already made it clear that in Arthur's past life, when he was the Grey King, he had a cold and even cruel personality. However, something changed in the boy, and Sylvia, even though she wasn't part of the Leywin family, played a fundamental role in shaping the new Arthur.
Finally, after a confrontation with another like her, Sylvia reveals her true form to protect the boy and creates a portal for him to escape. Thus, the farewell between the two was, to date, the most emotional scene in the anime. Besides a moving soundtrack, witnessing the tears of a character who, even as a child, wasn't usually easily affected, brings up a variety of emotions.
The fight scenes in The Beginning After the End leave something to be desired, but plot-wise, there's still much to be explored, especially regarding King Grey. Furthermore, Arthur's evolution, both in magic and in his feelings, is evident throughout the narrative. Thus, the episode " Finding the King" may be the hope that the anime isn't completely lost.
