The episode 5 of The Beginning After The End , released on April 30, introduces us to the Kingdom Elenir, where Thessia lives with her parents, Alduin and Merial Elith, king and queen of the Elificing Kingdom, and her grandfather Viion Elith, former governor of the kingdom. Moreover, despite the clear aversion of the elves to humans, Arthur is accepted in the castle and reports his recent journey to the Eralith family. Also, the boy is tested by Viion and receives a tempting offer.
At the end of the previous episode, when the elves take Arthur, Thessia assumes a strange expression, as if she were angry with something. However, in the current chapter, the girl asks the guards to release Arthur, as the boy saved her and took her safely to the Kingdom Elenoir.
The Beginning After the End: Arthur discovers that Thessia is a princess
Afraid of Arthur being a dangerous child, the guards are reluctant to release him. However, they do it when Vione Elith, the grandfather of Thessia, orders them to leave the boy alone. In the episode, the antipathy of the elves in relation to humans is clear due to some attitudes and dangers they represent to the people of Elenir. Despite the help of Thessia, the boy still thinks about that strange expression of the elf when they arrived in the elaphic kingdom.
After thanking Arthur for saving her granddaughter, Viion mentions that Elfa's little girl is the princess of Elenoir, a revelation that surprises the boy, since during the scene he reflects that nothing in her had given the slightest impression of it. The parents of Thesia also have reluctance to the human at the beginning, but, with great insistence from their daughter, accept Arthur's presence in the castle.
As soon as they arrive at the castle, Arthur decides to reveal what happened to his family and how he met Thessia, as well as telling how he saved her. The girl's father and the guards are costing to believe that young Leywin was able to rescue the elf from the hands of slave traffickers only using his power.
However, Arthur remains firm and takes the opportunity to ask for help from King Alduin to find his family in the Sapin Kingdom. The Father of Tessia explains to the boy that the teleport portal for the Sapin Kingdom is only accessible to the Board of Roads of the Three Breeds, held every seven years, and the next will be in five. In this way Alduin says he cannot allow a human to stay so long in Elenoir and promise an escort to take him to his family.
Virion Elith tests Arthur's skills
During the episode, it is clear that Arthur misses his parents, especially in the scene where he witnesses the joy of the king and queen when they are with Thessia. The boy begins to wonder if his parents will be happy that way when they meet, since he believes it was his fault for the family to have been in danger.
At the end of the episode, Arthur is challenged by Viion, who wants to test the boy's skills and magic. Unfortunately, once again, the action scene leaves something to be desired. Static images disrupt the dynamics of the moment, which prevents the immersion of the viewer.
After Arthur wins the test, Viion invites him to be his apprentice. The boy, who is concerned about his family, thinks about denying it. However, Tessia's grandfather says there is a way to warn her parents. In addition, Vion seems to know the reason for the intense pain in Arthur's core, as, in the final scene, while Leywin feels a strong twinge, he asks the boy to accept to become his apprentice, because otherwise he will die.
The animation displeases fans with the excess of static scenes in the fights
The Beginning After The End is an anime that we should enjoy the narrative. Unfortunately, the animation, especially in fight scenes, is not pleasing the fans. This is because static images are used at times that should prioritize the movement. However, this does not mean that the plot of the work is not interesting.
Accompanying the journey of a boy who still keeps memories of his past life generates, at least, curiosity about who he was. Flashbacks, which happen during the episodes of the work, highlight the desire to understand what happened in their other life. In addition, it is exciting to accompany Arthur's personality slowly changing, especially in relation to his family.
Many admirers of the work were upset about the animation, even made a petition for those responsible to give up on this version and start a new one. However, the author spoke out and asked for public support. Now we must hope that the anime remains true to the plot of the original work and delivers everything that the audience expects from the narrative.
