In episode 8 of The Beginning After The End , released on May 21, Arthur finally rediscovers his family and meets his little sister Eleanor. The boy, who has been away from home, is received with joy and, after fighting Reynolds to show the results of his training, surprises his parents with the evolution of his magic. At the beginning of the episode, Arthur tells about his journey and the years in Elenir. However, he omits parts of his adventure, like the moment he met Sylvia. The scene of Arthur's reunion with his parents was disappointing and, unlike the web novel, did not explore their feelings so much as he found him after so many years. Even Arthur himself demonstrated little sentimentality at the moment.
The evolution of Arthur magic
As they talk about their stages of magic, Reynolds discovers that Arthur is in the light red stage. In The Beginning After the End there are the colors of Mana, which starts in black, followed by red, orange, yellow, silver and white. After the color itself, there are the stages: deep, standard and clear. Soon after, Reynolds calls Arthur for training and, at the same moment, Vincent Helstea, head of Arthur's father, arrives with his family and takes the opportunity to watch the fight between father and son.
Unfortunately, the fight was very disappointing. Like the other episodes, the animation, made by the studio A-CAT, uses static scenes and has very little dynamism. The struggle between the two, because it has melee combat and the use of magic, had a lot of potential for a dynamic moment and a better use of the effects in the scenes in which magic is used.
At the time of training, Arthur's evolution is noticeable. The parents already knew the boy's abilities, but Vincent Helstea is impressed. With this, the chief of Reynolds proposes that the protagonist enroll in the Xyrus gym, a prestigious school of magic, without worrying about the tuition, as he intends to pay Arthur's studies. The boy, who has not seen his family for a long time, decides to refuse the offer to spend time with them.
The Beginning After The End: What to expect from the next episode?
Now, Arthur is finally with his family. He plans to spend time with them before deciding to leave again anywhere else. If the anime follows the same path of the web novel, in the next few episodes Arthur will be closer to his little sister and Lilia, daughter of Vincent. Also, there is a funny scene involving Sylvie and a bathtub.
