While browsing the shops, Arthur encounters two students from the Xyrus Academy. The boys tease Lilia and mock her lack of magic. The girl, who dreams of studying at Xyrus, is upset by the absence of her powers, which makes her even consider buying a beast core to hasten its awakening.

After noticing that Lilia is upset, Arthur offers to help her. In the web novel, before awakening the girl's mana, the protagonist meets Cynthia Goodsky, founder and director of Xyrus Academy. However, this does not occur in the anime.
