In the 37th issue of Shonen Sunday , it was announced on Wednesday that the Birdman will go on hiatus until the magazine's 46th issue, which is scheduled for release on October 16. The magazine also announced that Shogakukan will be releasing the first compiled volume of the manga around October 18.

Yellow Tanabe (creator of Birdman) began promoting Kekkaishi in Shonen Sunday in 2003 and ended after 8 years, in 2011. An animated version aired in Japan from 2006 to 2008. Media licensed the distribution of the manga and anime in Latin America, where it aired on Cartoon Network.
