Animation fans, especially otakus, deserve to celebrate tonight. Studio Ghibli Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka (The Boy and the Crane)" won the Best Animated Feature category at the 2024 BAFTA (77th British Academy Film Awards).

The film by renowned director Hayao Miyazaki won against "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," "Elemental," and "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget." Therefore, the BAFTA is one of the biggest awards in cinema.

It is worth remembering that the film is also nominated for the 2024 Oscar.

Synopsis:

The Boy and the Heron is inspired by the story of Genzaburo Yoshino 1937 novel. The book follows the journey of Copper, a 15-year-old boy who goes on a journey to discover the meaning of life. However, Miyazaki has stated that his film will tell a different story.

However, Hayao Miyazaki is one of Japan's most respected and influential animators, having co-founded Studio Ghibli . The film will also be released in North America on December 8, 2023, in IMAX.

Finally, the film “Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka (The Boy and the Crane)” achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first Japanese film to receive the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, announced earlier this month.

The Boy and the Crane opens in Brazil on February 22, with previews confirmed in São Paulo and Fortaleza. The 96th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 10 .
