My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

In a recent interview, the author of 'Kaiju No. 8', Naoya Matsumoto , shared an interesting inspiration behind the manga . He revealed that his creation was influenced by the 2016 film “Shin Godzilla”, directed by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion).

Matsumoto also revealed an intriguing detail about the protagonist Kafka . He stated that he based the character Kafka on his own life experiences. He explained how he felt frustrated seeing successful friends debuting in magazines while he could barely make ends meet. These emotions found natural expression in Kafka, a 30-year-old man struggling to achieve his dreams.

Although the explosive popularity of 'Kaiju No. 8' did not go unnoticed, leading to the decision to adapt it into an anime just one year after its release, even before knowing which studio would be responsible for the adaptation, Matsumoto expressed his admiration for Production IG and Khara , stating that he would be happy to "die" if they were chosen. This demonstrates the deep love he has for these studios.

This interview offers a behind-the-scenes look at 'Kaiju No. 8' and Matsumoto's creative process. Fans of the manga will surely be intrigued to learn about the inspirations behind this incredible work.

Finally, the anime is directed by Shigeyuki Miya (Onihei), with a script by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) and a story by Naoya Matsumoto.
