Square Enix announced today the death of artist Kayaharuka , responsible for the manga The Misfit of Demon King Academy , the artist passed away on July 6th . The author's family has already held a funeral .
While Square Enix's announcement did not include a cause of death, Kayaharuka had been suffering from pancreatic cancer since at least 2019. The manga adaptation of The Misfit of Demon King Academy was recently canceled so that Kayaharuka could undergo treatment, but what was unknown was that Kayaharuka had sadly already passed away at the time of the announcement.
In Kayaharuka's statement about the manga's cancellation, the author stated that he regretted that the manga had to end this way.
The Misfit of Demon King Academy manga was launched in July 2018 on the Manga Up website, Square Enix published the fourth volume on March 5.
