Ito had then long suffered from an unspecified illness that severely affected her stamina and eyesight and made it difficult for her to draw manga for long periods of time. Her health has led to several previous hiatuses from the manga, including November 2019 and November 2021.
The manga inspired an anime adaptation that aired from July to September 2019. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and streamed it on the HIDIVE service when it aired in Japan. A second anime season titled Machikado Mazoku 2-Chōme premiered on April 7, 2022. Additionally, Sentai Filmworks also licensed the season and streamed it on HIDIVE.
Synopsis
One morning, 15-year-old Yoshida Yuko wakes up to discover that she has gained demon horns and a tail! Not only that, she also discovers from her mother that she has supernatural powers and an important mission: to restore her family's glory by defeating the local magical girl. The magical girl in question is Chiyoda Momo, a student at Yuko's school. Ultimately, with strength well below expectations, Yuko's task of defeating Momo will be more challenging than she imagines in this upside-down magical girl comedy!
