The second season of the anime The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru.) has had its premiere postponed. Initially scheduled for July 2026, the new release date is now set for October of the same year. The change is due to circumstances related to the series' production.
In an official statement, the project team apologized for the delay and the inconvenience caused to the audience awaiting the premiere. According to the producers, the goal is to ensure higher quality for the continuation of the story.
Production resumes with the main team
Studio ENGI remains responsible for the animation of the sequel. Manabu Kurihara continues as director, while Deko Akao returns as screenwriter. Yosuke Ito will continue to handle character design, maintaining the visual identity presented in the first season.
Origin of The Detective Is Already Dead
The Detective Is Already Dead is a light novel written by Nigozyu and illustrated by Umibozu. It began publication by Media Factory in November 2019 and subsequently received two manga adaptations.
The story follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, who lived through numerous adventures alongside the legendary detective Siesta. After her death, a new case emerges, connecting mystery, conspiracies, and memories of the past.
