The publisher Shogakukan announced this Monday (25) that the novel series The Dinner Table Detective (Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de) will be adapted into an anime.

Therefore, The Dinner Table Detective will premiere in 2025 in Japan. The original character designs will be handled by Oreko Tachibana, known for the manga Firefly Wedding and Promise Cinderella.
Synopsis:
The story takes place in Kunitachi, Tokyo, and follows Reiko Hōshō, daughter of the owner of the renowned Hōshō Group, who works as a young detective. Her boss is Inspector Kazamatsuri, heir to Kazamatsuri Motors. Together, they face challenging cases. However, Reiko always seeks advice from her butler and driver, Kageyama, who, despite using a sharp and sarcastic tone, always brilliantly solves the mysteries.
However, the story has already inspired several adaptations for theater, a live-action series, specials in 2012 and 2013, and a live-action film also in 2013.
The series debuted in 2007, with three novels published between 2010 and 2012. A "Best" edition debuted in 2019, followed by two new volumes of Shin Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de, published in March 2021 and September 2021. Finally, renowned illustrator Yūsuke Nakamura contributed the artwork for these most recent volumes.
