The Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie may be delayed

Hello, my name is Bruna and I'm passionate about the world of anime and manga. I hope to contribute to the AnimeNew website.

During its panel at the Sakura-Con event, which is being held in the United States, the American distributor FUNimation, which holds the rights to Dragon Ball there, was asked by a fan about the release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (Kami to Kami). He asked if the license for the film had already been acquired.

The company responded by saying that Toei Animation has not yet released the rights, and estimated that it should take about two years to obtain those rights and be able to release it. FUNimation went even further and stated that there is a possibility that the film will not even be distributed by them in the United States, since, firstly, 20th Century Fox is the one that must receive the acquisition offer.

If FUNimation's plans come to fruition, this could delay the film's arrival in Brazil and other Latin American countries, because if the process used is the same as for Dragon Ball Kai, the dubbing of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods could take much longer and face the same problems as the remastered version of the anime (salaries, studio, and voice actor changes) if the source material used is from the American distributor.

Now that the film has premiered in Japan, more concrete information about the release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in other countries should emerge in the coming months. Until then, fans will have to wait.
