The Eminence in Shadow: Cid shows his difference at the beginning of season 2

The Eminence in Shadow , the hilarious isekai that has risen to prominence in recent years, offers a glimpse into the genius of its protagonist, Cid , through a simple, lighthearted joke. The anime's second season emphasizes Cid's uniqueness from other isekai protagonists right from the start.

In the first episode of season 2, Cid faces ghouls in a desolate town and nearly becomes their meal. However, his situation changes with the intervention of the vampire hunter Mary . She advises him to flee, warning him that time is running out due to the red moon. Cid's reaction is unusual: he is inspired by Mary's words and decides to adopt them as his own. So the protagonist runs through the town to save people, repeating the vampire hunter's words.

Cid fantasizes about being a master of dark trickery, exuding an aura of imposing leadership. However, the underlying joke is that, even when he tries to act cool, everything Cid says is true. Although he believes everything is false, he improvises incredible dialogue regardless of the situation.

Episode 1 of Season 2 emphasizes this character's unique charm, showing how unpredictable he can be in a hilarious way. In most isekai anime, the protagonist is usually a hero who defeats a demon king or someone who strives for success in life.

On the other hand, Cid only wants to embody the cool characters he admired in the stories of his previous life. Thus, he plays unusual roles in each arc, such as the episode in question, where he embodies Mary's striking dialogue.

Synopsis:
