Naughty Dog has announced that a new free DLC for The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered will be available starting April 3rd. The developer will release the update simultaneously for the PlayStation 5 and PC versions, debuting the title on PC. The main new feature is the expansion of the No Return roguelike mode, which now includes two new playable characters and new scenarios inspired by environments from both games in the franchise.

Bill, known to fans from the first game, arrives with the "Smuggler" playstyle, which offers a customizable repeating shotgun, extra resistance to melee attacks, and increased loot capacity. Additionally, Marlene, another iconic figure from the narrative, enters the scene with the "Risk Life" playstyle, centered on an adapted automatic rifle and abilities that allow for tactical route changes during matches. These additions broaden the diversity of strategies within the mode and deepen the immersion in the series' universe.

In addition to the new characters, the DLC brings four brand-new maps created from iconic settings in the franchise. Furthermore, the update also includes new trophies, technical improvements, and bug fixes, which should enhance the experience for both veterans and newcomers. Thus, the studio aims to keep the title updated and competitive to reinforce the longevity of the remastered edition.

Exclusive skin, PlayStation Network integration, and PC improvements

Among the cosmetic items, the highlight is a new skin for Ellie. The developer included Jordan's jacket as a skin for Ellie, featured in the new project Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Players can unlock the item by accumulating points in the remastered mode. This inclusion aims to create connections between different universes created by Naughty Dog and strengthen engagement between the franchises.

How to play The Last of Us Part 2 on PC

For those planning to play on PC, a PlayStation Network account will be required to access the DLC content. On PlayStation 5, the system automatically adds the features to the remastered version at no extra cost. The developer clarified that this requirement aims to ensure the synchronization of achievements, trophies, and progress across platforms, a practice that has become common in multiplatform games.

On PC, the game will support advanced technologies such as Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1 and 4.0. In addition, it will feature resources like Frame Generation, ultrawide monitors (21:9), VSync, and DirectStorage. Naughty Dog also confirmed that it has optimized the title to run well on different hardware configurations. This should make it more accessible to a wider audience and ensure good performance even on mid-range machines.
