With just over a month to go until the April Nintendo Direct, new information about the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to circulate. According to recent leaks, Nintendo's new console should feature significant advancements in performance and image quality. One of the highlights would be the LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR (high dynamic range) support, and VRR (variable refresh rate). This would represent a major evolution compared to the current generation.

The information was released on the Famiboards forum by a user known as Secretboy. He gained notoriety by correctly anticipating technical data about the device before its official presentation in January. Now, he claims that the Switch 2 will offer a smoother and visually better experience, especially in portable mode, thanks to VRR support and a high refresh rate screen. These features help minimize frame rate drops and make gameplay more stable and responsive.

Technical details indicate improvements in both handheld and docked modes

According to the leak, the console should deliver around 3 TFLOPS of graphics performance when docked. In portable mode, it will deliver between 1.4 and 1.5 TFLOPS. The difference between the modes reinforces Nintendo's commitment to consistent performance even outside the dock. This represents a technical challenge for hybrid consoles. If confirmed, these specifications would place the new device on a higher level than the current model, bringing it closer to competing platforms released in recent years.

Furthermore, previous speculations already suggested the inclusion of DLSS technology, NVIDIA's system that uses artificial intelligence to improve game resolution without compromising performance. Although Nintendo has not yet confirmed the presence of DLSS, a patent registered by the company points to the development of a similar technology, focused on optimizing graphics processing. The practical application of this feature could be crucial for maintaining visual quality in more demanding titles, even on portable hardware.

Price and release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 remain unconfirmed

Despite growing anticipation, Nintendo has yet to officially reveal the full specifications of the new Switch. The event scheduled for April 2nd, during the Nintendo Direct, should be the stage for the final presentation of the console. Market analysts suggest that the initial price of the device should be around US$400, equivalent to approximately R$2,280 at the current exchange rate, not considering taxes and import fees. If this value is confirmed, Nintendo will adopt a price range similar to that of its competitors, suggesting a more aggressive bet on the global market.

Until then, the information released remains in the realm of rumors. However, the reputation of sources like Secretboy, coupled with patent filings and recent company movements, indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 could represent a significant technical leap. The focus on image quality, performance stability, and leveraging resources in portable mode points to a strategic repositioning by Nintendo, which seeks to maintain its hybrid proposition without sacrificing the delivery of a modern and competitive experience.
