According to a report on the Deadline , Netflix has finally revealed the One Piece remake , the new anime in the franchise created by WIT Studio . And yes, the proposal is ambitious: to retell the entire East Blue saga with a more modern approach for the new generation.

This project is not just another adaptation. It is born as a complete reinterpretation of the beginning of Eiichiro Oda , using current technology and a much more refined visual approach.

What we already know about the anime The One Piece

  • The story will revisit the East Blue arc, where it all begins
  • Produced in partnership with Shueisha, Toei Animation, and Fuji Television Network
  • New aesthetic and direction, different from classic anime
  • Focus on improving pacing, animation, and storytelling

In other words, it's not a lazy remake. It's practically a "definitive version of One Piece" for the new generation.

Netflix has made it clear that it's betting heavily on the franchise. The live-action One Piece series has already surpassed almost 100 million views across its two seasons and dominated the platform's top spots for weeks.

And it doesn't stop there; other projects have also been confirmed:

  • One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta is already planned for 2027.
  • Animated special in partnership with LEGO
  • Product expansion, collaborations, and experiences (like escape rooms)

According to Netflix itself, the idea is to transform One Piece into a giant universe, present in various media at the same time.

Finally, after more than 26 years on the air, One Piece has cemented its place in global pop culture. The franchise has surpassed 510 million copies of the manga in circulation worldwide, in addition to films, games, and various licensed products.

Now it remains to be seen: will WIT Studio be able to deliver something worthy of the legacy?
