Sony has released the information that all video game players have been waiting for: the price of the PlayStation 4. With a price tag of R$3,999 , the company will officially make the console available in Brazilian stores on November 29th.
The price is one of the highest ever seen for a video game console in the country, even taking into account inflation from past periods. In the US, the console will cost $399 in its standard version. In Chile, according to the Chilean Sony Store, the pre-order for the PS4 will cost around 329,000 Chilean pesos, equivalent to approximately R$1,450.
The Xbox One , priced at $499, will cost R$2,200 in Brazil, and has been heavily criticized for its high price. At the same time, it served as a basis for speculation about the price of its competitor's console in the market, since the PS4 is $100 cheaper abroad. However, contrary to what was mistakenly announced on the Brazilian Sony Store website, PS4 games will cost R$179.
