Sony has released the information that all video game players have been waiting for: the price of the PlayStation 4 . With the price set at R$3,999 , the company will make the console officially available in Brazilian stores on November 29th.
The price is one of the highest ever seen on the sale of a video game in the country, even taking into account inflation from past times. In the US, the console will cost, in its normal version, US$399. In Chile, according to the Chilean Sony Store, pre-orders for the PS4 will cost around 329 thousand Chilean pesos, the equivalent of, more or less, R$1,450.
The Xbox One , priced at US$499, will cost R$2,200 in Brazil, and was heavily criticized due to its high cost in Brazil. At the same time, it served as a basis for speculation regarding the price of the competing console on the market, as the PS4 is US$100 cheaper abroad. On the other hand, unlike what was mistakenly announced on the Brazilian Sony Store website, PS4 games will cost 179.
Check out Sony Brasil's official response to the BJ website:
“The PS4 console is imported into Brazil and approximately 60 to 70% of the price is based on import duties imposed by the local government.”
