Synopsis
The books focus on the world of the yatagarasu, which is the Japanese name for a variant of the mythical crown gods found in East Asian folk mythologies. Additionally, the yatagarasu have the ability to transform between human and raven forms, and reside in the world of Yamauchi, a parallel world created by the yatagarasu god Yamagami. Within Yamauchi, the yatagarasu live in a society reminiscent of Heian-era Japan. Additionally, this parallel world remains connected to our human world.
As far as “Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai” is concerned, the story revolves around a yatagarasu boy named Yukiya, who is handsome but eccentric, and is chosen to become the servant of the imperial prince. The plot develops as Yukiya and the prince become involved in court intrigues and conspiracies.
Furthermore, Abe launched the novel series with the first novel “Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai” in 2012. The first part of the novel series consists of six novels, with “Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai” being the second novel released in 2013, and a parallel romance. The second part of the novel series has so far inspired three novels, with the most recent being released in October 2022, and a parallel novel.
