Fans of romantic fantasy can now mark their calendars. The manga The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom (Marronnier Ōkoku no Shichinin no Kishi), by Nao Iwamoto, has officially received a TV anime adaptation and will premiere in October of this year on NHK Educationalin Japan.
An adventure across eight kingdoms
Published since 2016 in Shogakukan's Flowers magazine, the series follows seven knightly brothers who serve the Kingdom of Marronnier. Located in the center of eight nations, the kingdom sends each of the brothers as an ambassador to different territories. During their journeys, they seek to find their destined partners while facing challenges and discoveries along the way.

The protagonists have curious names that reflect their personalities, including Nemukunai, Hakuai, Atsugariya, Samugariya, Kemono Tsukai, Tsurugi Jiman, and Harapeko. The combination of fantasy, romance, and adventure helped the series gain popularity among female audiences.
The team brings together experienced names
The production will be handled by JC Staff studio. Kiyoko Sayama, known for her work on Skip Beat! and Vampire Knight, will direct. Shinzō Fujita will supervise the scripts, while Yoshiaki Fujisawa will compose the soundtrack.
The manga also gained notoriety by topping the women's category of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide in 2018. Furthermore, Nao Iwamoto is known for Kingdom of Gold, Kingdom of Water, a work that inspired an anime film released in 2023.
