In an open letter sent by CD Projekt Red, the studio announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be delayed. The game will require an additional 12 weeks to complete, pushing its release date to May 19, 2015.

“Dear players:
Ever since we began work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim to, give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure set in a vast, completely open-ended fantasy universe.
The size and complexity of The Witcher, integral to the title, had a decisive impact on production. Now, as we near the end of our work, we see many details that need to be fixed. When we release the most important game in our studio's history, we want to be absolutely certain that we've done everything possible to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to fully enjoy the game.
With that in mind, we've looked at our current workload and what it means for the team. While everyone is working at full capacity, we've concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we're moving the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19, 2015.
We owe you an apology. We set the release date too quickly. It's a hard lesson, one we'll keep in mind in the future. We know we want to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you'll ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve that. So we apologize and ask for your trust.
Thank you for all the support you show us every day. We truly appreciate it. It has fueled our passion from the beginning and will continue to do so.
