Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella has confirmed that Titanfall 2 is in development and will be released for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 (which didn't receive the first title). Zampella spoke to IGN UK at the BAFTA Game Awards, where Titanfall is nominated for three awards.

"I believe EA announced a sequel, so I could pretend I don't know anything... Well, we're working on a sequel. There's no official name yet, but we're creating it. That's the main focus, but we're also creating a new development team and doing smaller things. Small, exploratory, slow. It will be multiplatform," said Zampella.

It seems the decision to expand the game's platform horizons was never in doubt. When asked if Respawn would change anything about the first game, Respawn COO Dusty Welch said, "Platform is the first thing that comes to mind." Zampella later explained that "Xbox One exclusivity was necessary for us to be able to make the game."

“The opportunity to make Titanfall 2 a cross-platform game made it more meaningful for us,” Zampella said.

As for what we can expect from the next game in the series, the duo remained tight-lipped but promised they'll expand their horizons. It's also unclear whether the new game will have a single-player section. "I wouldn't have done Titanfall any differently," Zampella explained, referring to the first game's unique multiplayer aspect.

"We know it's something that deters some people from playing the game, and as creators, we want to see our game in the hands of as many people as possible. We've tried to incorporate some of these elements, but it's difficult to find a balance. It takes time to find it, and we haven't found it yet," believes the Respawn executive.

New games, however, have influenced Titanfall: Evolve, for example, with its free maps, seems like a good path to follow for Titanfall 2's DLC. "It's a fantastic way to do it," said Zampella.
