1. Denji – デンジ
Our protagonist in this story is named Denji, a 16-year-old boy with messy blond hair. He has yellowish-brown eyes and sharp teeth to match. As a boy, he inherits a huge debt from his yakuza father after his father's death. After meeting the Devil Pochita , he becomes a Devil Hunter for the yakuza in an attempt to repay his debt.
2. Makima – マキマ
Makima is a mysterious girl in her early twenties. She's a Public Security Demon Hunter, and she also took Denji as her human pet. Makima is cunning, intelligent, and manipulative, controlling Denji by taking advantage of his attraction to her with promises of a romantic and sexual relationship, while threatening him with extermination if he disobeys. Although Denji truly loves her, Makima is merely captivated by the Chainsaw Man in Denji's body—or, more precisely, in his heart.
3. Aki Hayakawa – 早川アキ
Aki Hayakawa is a Public Security Demon Hunter, working under Makima's Division 4 special squad. He has a contract with the Curse Devil and the Future Devil, allowing him to use a powerful spike in exchange for his life and see a few seconds into the future. Aki is generally very stoic, as well as acting mature and trustworthy around his fellow demon hunters.
4. Power – パワー, Pawā
A Blood Fiend and Public Safety Devil Hunter who is part of Makima's special squad. Like a demon, she has red horns protruding from the top of her head. She loves violence and is simultaneously childish and greedy, almost entirely self-motivated and willing to harm others for her own satisfaction.
5. Kobeni Higashiyama – 東山コベニ, Higashiyama Kobeni
Kobeni originally under an unidentified contract , became a demon hunter in part because her parents forced her to work to support her older brother so she could go to college. Despite her timid and cowardly demeanor, she is skilled and talented—her reflexes and stealth are unmatched when she's motivated.
6. Himeno – 姫野
Himeno is one of the main characters in the anime Chainsaw Man , Aki Hayakawa's first partner. Phantom Demon Contract: Himeno has the ability to harness the Phantom Demon's power in exchange for permanently sacrificing her right eye to the Demon. Himeno can summon and control the Phantom Demon's invisible and intangible right arm. By exchanging her entire body, Himeno can summon multiple Phantom Demon arms to attack and subdue her opponent.
7. Kishibe岸辺
First and foremost, the organization's strongest demon hunter. Older than most of the other hunters, he is scarred and cynical. He trains Denji and Power , and was Quanxi's partner in his youth.
Thus, author Tatsuki Fujimoto launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, finishing the first arc in December 2020 with 11 volumes. In Brazil, the manga is published by Panini.
