About Toritsukare Otoko

The author released the original novel in 2001. The story revolves around Giuseppe , a boy known in his town as the "Obsessed Man" due to his tendency to obsess over one particular thing for short periods of time, during which he pays attention to nothing else.

One day, he sees a balloon seller named Pechka and falls in love at first sight. Although Giuseppe tries to get closer to Pechka, the sadness Pechka harbors in her heart keeps him at a distance. Giuseppe enlists the help of his friend Cielo , using the things he was obsessed with to help Pechka slowly heal from her sadness.

The official website revealed a little more about the characters and also their official designs.

Giuseppe

"When he's absorbed in one thing, he becomes completely blind to other things—that's why he's called the 'Obsessed Man' by the townspeople. He falls in love with Pechka, a balloon seller, and runs around crazy about her."

Pechka

"A girl from a foreign country in the East. She works as a balloon seller to help with her sick mother's treatment and lives with a parakeet in an apartment on the outskirts of the city. She's happy to have her first friend, Giuseppe, but her smile is a little dim."

Sky

"He's Giuseppe's friend, the mouse in the house where the boy lives, because he's the only one he can talk to, since the boy has learned the language of mice. He eats the same food as humans and prefers a clean life. He fights to keep Giuseppe and Pechka together."
