Illustrator Toyotarō , known for co-creating Dragon Ball Super , surprised fans by revealing a new project. After more than a year's hiatus from the manga , the artist is now joining another major Japanese franchise: Mobile Suit Gundam .

In September, Toyotarō had already hinted at his new collaboration. Now it has been confirmed that he illustrated a special collectible card of Mikazuki Augus , protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (2015) , for the December issue of V-Jump , published by Bandai. The artwork features Mikazuki prominently, with the iconic Gundam Barbatos in the background — a combination that has excited fans of both franchises.

In addition, the artist commented on his X profile (formerly Twitter) that fans can check out the complete artwork in the new edition of the magazine.

The future of Dragon Ball Super is still uncertain

While Toyotarō invests in new projects, fans remain concerned about the future of Dragon Ball Super , which has been on hiatus since the release of Chapter 104. V-Jump editor Victory Uchida confirmed that there will be no new chapters of the series during 2025.

“Genkidamatsuri” event , scheduled for January 25, 2026 , promises to reveal major announcements from the franchise. The presence of Masako Nozawa (the Japanese voice of Goku) and executive producer Akio Iyoku reinforces expectations for news—including rumors of a new game and even a possible continuation of Dragon Ball Daima or the return of Dragon Ball Super .

Finally, the official profile on X was renamed, no longer focusing solely on Dragon Ball Super but now encompassing the entire Dragon Ball , which may indicate a new era.
