During a special interview with the official Dragon Ball , artist Toyotaro — responsible for the drawings of Dragon Ball Super — enthusiastically defended the much-debated Majin Boo Saga of Dragon Ball Z.

The conversation took place due to the release of volume 24 of the manga, released in Japan on April 4, 2025, and featured the participation of Maria Makino, member of the idol group Morning Musume '25.

Although many fans view the saga with criticism, mainly due to Gohan's downfall, Toyotaro highlighted the positive aspects of this period. According to him, "it's a saga rich in characters and full of creative freedom, as it was the last story Toriyama conceived for the series ." The artist also confessed that he draws heavily from the visual style of this era in his own work.

However, in the interview, Makino, in turn, revealed that he loved the saga's lighter moments, such as Gotenks's antics and Majin Buu creating his home. Despite the series once again revolving around Goku—which frustrated those who expected more from Gohan—Toyotaro believes this saga brings a unique depth to the franchise's universe.
