The official website for the film Free! The Final Stroke announced that, due to the hiatus of the group OLDCODEX, the release of the film's theme song, which was scheduled for September 15th, has been put on hold. As a result, the planned release of the new full trailer for the film, which was to air next Thursday, has also been cancelled.

The franchise's production committee explained that the decision to halt the release of the song came after several discussions between the production committee and the OLDCODEX record label team. The anime team made the trailer with the theme song, and it would have been difficult to change the song at this point. Instead, the team will announce other new details about the film on Friday.

The film's official Twitter posted illustrations for the countdown to the new trailer on Thursday, but the countdown will now promote Friday's announcement.
