Ubisoft prepares a new title of the genus Battle Royale, inspired directly on Apex Legends . With code name Scout , the project has been under development for at least two years and aims to win part of the audience that has moved away from the Respawn Entertainment game in recent months.

Sources linked to Insider Gaming state that the Ubisoft game adopts a similar structure to the rival, both in the character's style and the skills offered. The internal images of the project, even, even used Apex as a temporary illustration during the production phase.
Game seeks to repeat iconic characters success
In the new game, Ubisoft tries to reproduce what made characters like Wraith, Pathfinder and Lifeline become popular. Playable heroes follow the model of agility, fast displacement and team cooperation - class system pillars seen in Apex Legends .
Ubisoft bet on the fall of EA engagement to win the public. According to one of the sources heard by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft intends to occupy this space with a “familiar” experience, but under a new brand. Still, the proposal finds resistance within the company itself.
Ubisoft internal research has recently indicated a decline in public interest in Battle Royale games. In questionnaires applied to players, the company even raised the following question: “What comes after Battle Royale?”, Signaling that perhaps the market is migrating to other formats.
Ubisoft insists on gender even after failures
Even with internal alerts, Ubisoft maintains the plans. The history, however, does not play in favor. Ubisoft launched the Battle Royale Hyper Scape in 2020, but ended the game in less than two years.
Since then, the company has canceled at least a dozen similar projects, according to Insider Gaming. The insistence on gender raises doubts about Ubisoft's ability to properly read market movements.
Meanwhile, EA also tries to circumvent the crisis at Apex Legends . The company's CEO, Andrew Wilson, has publicly admitted that the game has not been achieving the expected financial results. A major update, nicknamed “ Apex Legends 2.0 ”, is in production, but not yet defined.
Game market can be close to a turn
The current scenario puts the two companies in an impasse: betting on a consecrated but falling model, or risking new formulas. For Ubisoft, Scout represents another attempt to establish himself on a land that has already caused previous losses.
Despite the official silence, the backstage movement shows that the dispute for Battle Royale players remains active. The success of the new project will depend not only on technical execution, but on the ability to offer something beyond what has already been seen in previous titles.
