Bussing is a term little-known among Marvel Rivals players, but its impact on the competitive environment is significant. The practice consists of forming teams with players who use cheats to climb the rankings, even without directly using hacks. This behavior is considered a form of cheating and can lead to an account ban, according to the game's developers.

How Bussing Works in-Game

Bussing occurs when a player intentionally teams up with users who use cheats, such as aimbots or movement modifications, to obtain victories and advance in the matchmaking. While the player isn't hacking, they directly benefit from the cheater's actions, which constitutes collusion in illicit practices.

NetEase developers behind Marvel Rivals have confirmed that the term refers to this deliberate collaboration with cheaters. It's a silent but dangerous strategy, as it undermines the integrity of matches and harms the experience for other players.

Signs that a Player May Be Engaged in Bussing

Identifying Bussing isn't as simple as spotting a regular hacker, but there are suspicious behaviors that serve as warning signs. Some of the main signs are:

  • Impossible Kills: If a player can eliminate opponents with absolute precision, without error or hesitation, they may be using aim assist.
  • Unnatural Movements: Players who move robotically and extremely quickly often use external modifications.
  • Complicit Silence: When someone on the team avoids commenting on or defending a suspect's behavior, they may be covering up for their cheating partner.

Additionally, chat confessions, while rare, do occur, and can also serve as evidence of involvement in illegal practices.

How to Report Players for Bussing

To maintain a healthy competitive environment, the game allows you to report suspected bussing users both during and after the match. Here's how to do this correctly:

During the match

  1. Press Tab or ESC to open the scoreboard.
  2. Click on the name of the suspicious player.
  3. Choose the “Report Player” option.
  4. Select “Bussing” as the reason for the report.

After the match

  1. Go to the main menu and click on your profile icon.
  2. Access the “History” tab.
  3. Find the match in question and open the scoreboard.
  4. Click on the player's name and send the report.

This feature is essential to reduce the negative impact of players collaborating with cheaters. The moderation team reviews reported cases and, if necessary, applies penalties.

Why Bussing Hurts the Game

Even if the player who practices Bussing isn't directly using cheats, they violate the rules of conduct by benefiting from the cheating of others. This distorts the game's rankings, harms opponents who play fairly, and generates distrust in the community.

Furthermore, normalizing this practice can encourage other players to adopt it, further exacerbating the problem of unfair competition. This is why the developer considers Bussing a serious offense and valid grounds for banning.
