A 22-year-old college student was arrested in Arapiraca, Alagoas, on suspicion of pirating anime . According to police, several websites were taken offline, including the mega-known Better Animes .

Titled Operation Animes , it is an offshoot of Operation 404 , which took several websites offline last year, including Superflix .

The delegate of the Cybercrimes Section, Sidney Tenório, said that several objects were also seized that will still be examined by the police: “CPUs, cell phones, computer devices were seized, all to demonstrate the materiality of the crime.

Finally, Brazilian laws stipulate a prison sentence of two to four years and a fine for anyone who violates copyright by distributing works illegally.
