A 22-year-old university student was arrested in Arapiraca (AL), suspected of pirating anime. According to information from the civil police, several websites were taken offline, including the well-known Better Animes.

Titled Operation Animes, it is an offshoot of Operation 404, which took down several websites last year, including Superflix.

The head of the Cybercrime Section, Sidney Tenório, said that several objects were also seized and will still be examined by the police: “A CPU, a cell phone, computer devices were seized, everything to demonstrate the materiality of the crime.

Finally, Brazilian law stipulates a prison sentence of two to four years and a fine for anyone who violates copyright by illegally distributing works.
