Gangan Joker magazine announced in its November issue the name of the new manga by Jun Mochizuki (best known for Pandora Hearts). It will be called Vanitas no Carte, it will take place in 19th century Paris with a vampire and Steampunk theme.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction, or speculative fiction, that gained fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These are works set in the past, in which modern technological paradigms occurred earlier than in real history ( or in a universe with similar characteristics), but they were obtained through science already available at that time – such as, for example, wooden computers and steam-powered airplanes. It's a style typically associated with futuristic cyberpunk and, like it, has a similar but distinct fan base.
The manga is scheduled to be released on December 22nd, but will only be published in the January edition of the magazine.
