The magazine Gangan Joker announced in its November issue the name of Jun Mochizuki (best known for Pandora Hearts) new manga. It will be called Vanitas no Carte, and will be set in 19th-century Paris with a vampire and steampunk theme.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction, or speculative fiction, that gained fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It involves works set in the past, in which modern technological paradigms occurred earlier than in real history (or in a universe with similar characteristics), but were achieved through science already available at that time – such as, for example, wooden computers and steam-powered airplanes. It is a style usually associated with the futuristic cyberpunk and, like it, has a similar but distinct fanbase.
The manga is scheduled for release on December 22nd, but will only be published in the January issue of the magazine.
