The item was first auctioned on eBay on Wednesday, and with it, YouTuber Alex Cimo , who interviewed the card's owner, Tyler Gressle , also said it received a $100,000 bid within the first hour.
So, the Make-A-Wish granted Gressle's wish to create his own personalized letter in 2005, and Gressle has kept it in storage ever since.
In 2001, Tyler Gressle was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma of the liver, an extremely rare form of cancer, at the time, however, he was then given the opportunity to select the art and name of an upcoming letter.
For the "Tyler, the Great Warrior" card, manga creator Kazuki Takahashi drew two sketches of a design based on Trunks, a Dragon Ball character. Takahashi also personally signed the card. Gressle commented that his wish gave him the opportunity to express his appreciation for two of his greatest interests at the time: Dragon Ball and Yu-Gi-Oh!.
The auction will end on April 29th, and Gressle plans to donate a portion of the auction proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a thank you for helping to bring out his inner warrior. Beckett Grading Services also professionally graded the letter with a 7 (near perfect).
