Vinland Saga 2 will get a "6.5" episode

The official Twitter for the second season of the Vinland Saga released a short video titled " Episode 6.5 – Drowning in the Shadow ".

The video then shows a scene not shown in the manga in which Thorfinn, initially shown as a member of Askeladd's invaders, kills some men in the middle of an attack. When he enters a nearby house, he is shown as an adult, seeing a family huddled inside.

Makoto Yukimura, the original author of the manga, also commented on the episode:

The second season of the anime therefore premiered on January 9th.

The team from the first season returns, this time at MAPPA instead of Wit Studio . Therefore, Shuuhei Yabuta (director of Inuyashiki Last Hero, director of Attack on Titan 3D) is returning to direct the anime. Hiroshi Seko (Banana Fish, Ajin: Demi-Human) is again supervising and writing the series scripts, while Takahiko Abiru (animation director for 2011 Hunter × Hunter) also returns to design the characters. Finally, Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul, Donten ni Warau Gaiden: Ketsubetsu, Yamainu no Chikai) is again composing the music.

Synopsis

In short, the story of Vinland Saga begins 15 years earlier, when the Viking commander Thors decides to desert battle to live a peaceful life in Iceland with his wife Helga. Some time later, his son Thorfinn longs to see the paradise known as Vinland. When Thors is summoned to another battle, the former warrior is trapped in a scheme to punish his desertion so many years before. When the plan is put into action, amidst the chaos, Thorfinn is taken hostage and his father is killed. Thorfinn is then forced to join forces with his captors.

The first season of the anime then premiered in July 2019.

Finally, Makoto Yukimura launched the series in Kodansha 's Weekly Shounen Magazine Afternoon magazine later that year. Yukimura began drawing the fourth and final arc of the manga in November 2019. Furthermore, the manga has over 7 million copies in circulation.
