On Wednesday January 8th, North American anime and manga publisher Viz Media announced that it has acquired the rights to the anime series Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit . The publisher will release the series this year on Blu-ray and DVD.
The series was adapted from the first book in the Nahoko Uehashi novel series, which tells about Balsa , a bodyguard who swore to save the lives of eight people to atone for a past sin. The second prince of the New Yogo Empire , Chagum , whose life is in danger because he is possessed by a sacred spirit that represents a danger to his country, searches for Balsa , who answers his request and swears to protect Chagum , the two enter into a journey to discover how to rid Chagum of the spirit.
