On Wednesday, January 8th, the North American anime and manga publisher Viz Media announced that it had acquired the rights to the anime series Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit . The publisher will release the series this year on Blu-ray and DVD.
The series is adapted from the first book in Nahoko Uehashi's novel series, which tells the story of Balsa , a bodyguard who vowed to save the lives of eight people to atone for a past sin. The second prince of the New Yogo Empire , Chagum , whose life is in danger because he is possessed by a sacred spirit that poses a threat to his country, seeks out Balsa , who answers his plea and vows to protect Chagum . The two embark on a journey to discover how to free Chagum from the spirit.
