Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko), the newest film by director Makoto Shinkai , received this Tuesday (28) a new poster containing the visuals of the anime , as well as a new trailer. The film premieres in Japan on July 19.
“The summer of his freshman year of high school, Hokoda flees his remote island home, Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to hint at his future. He lives his days in isolation, but eventually finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hokoda encounters Hina on a busy street corner. This bright, strong girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…”
The original work and direction are partly by Makoto Shinkai , who is also credited for his other hit, Kimi no Nawa (Your Name). The animation is by the studio CoMix Wave , and features names such as Masayoshi Tanaka (character designer), Atsushi Tamura (animation director) and Hiroshi Takiguchi (art director). In addition, the band RADWIMPS is responsible for both the film's main theme and the music in general.
Shinkai also promises a novel that will adapt the film, he said it will be available both digitally and in print on July 18th.
