Weathering With you (Tenki no Ko), the newest film by director Makoto Shinkai , received this Tuesday (28) a new poster containing the look of the anime , as well as a new trailer. The film opens in Japan on July 19th.
“In the summer of his freshman year of high school, Hokoda runs away from his remote island home of Tokyo and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is exceptionally gloomy and rainy every day, as if to hint at its future. He lives out his days in isolation, but eventually finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hokoda meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…”
The original work and direction are by Makoto Shinkai , who is also credited for his other hit: Kimi no Nawa (Your Name). The animation is by the CoMix Wave , and features names such as Masayoshi Tanaka (character designer), Atsushi Tamura (animation director) and Hiroshi Takiguchi (art director). Furthermore, the band RADWIMPS is responsible for both the main theme of the film and the songs in general.
Shinkai also promises a novel that will adapt the film, which he said will be available both digitally and in print on July 18th.
