Hunter x Hunter Creator to Limit Work Due to Health Issues

The author of Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, announced that he will turn down work with deadlines after completing his current commitments, citing physical and mental health issues. Togashi revealed the decision on Monday, October 5, through his account on X. According to the author, the change will allow him to focus his efforts on his own manuscripts.

The Hunter x Hunter manga went on hiatus again on September 7, after resuming publication on June 29. The series had stopped at chapter 420, but Togashi reported on September 15 that he had completed the manuscript for chapter 428.
Shueisha published the 39th collected volume on July 3, the first new volume in 22 months. The series has already surpassed 100 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.

The author had previously faced health issues that affected the work's production. In January 2023, Shueisha announced that Hunter x Hunter would no longer follow a weekly release schedule, after consulting with Togashi.
Finally, the Hunter x Hunter manga has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1998, spawning two anime series, films, OVAs, and stage plays.
