Currently, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom leads with a 95 on Metacritic , followed by Breath of the Wild , which earned a 94 on the Switch 2 (in addition to its original 97 on the first Switch). Therefore, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 lost the overall crown, but remains the highest-rated new game of 2025 with a 93.

With the arrival of these two Nintendo giants, Blue Prince (92) and Split Fiction (91) dropped to fourth and fifth place, respectively. Although the ports received few improvements, their original quality remains undeniable, which explains their high ratings.
