The official website for the 10th anniversary of the anime Anohana announced that the event will feature a stage reading revealing what happened to the main characters 10 years after the anime ended.
The anime's original screenwriter, Mari Okada, is currently writing the script for the stage reading. The event will take place on August 28th, and the voice actors for the characters will also appear in person at the real-life anime setting located in Chichibu, Saitama City.
The event is therefore titled “ ANOHANA 10 YEARS AFTER Fes. ”, a deliberate return to the “ ANOHANA Fes .” that was held in Chichibu in September 2011.
The 10th anniversary project was first announced in March. Character designer and chief animation director Masayoshi Tanaka drew an image (below) of the main characters 10 years later to celebrate the project.
The anime Anohana premiered in April 2011 and follows the lives of childhood friends who try to reconnect in high school after being separated due to a tragedy five years prior. The series inspired a manga , a film sequel in 2013, and a live-action in 2015.
